2021.11.28 23:28 Fan_of_stuff27 WSIB for myself (Switch/PS5)

Yo, so I’m looking for a new game for myself. Getting right into it, I love big open worlds but I have a hard time following a story, a good example is botw where I just kept on finding towers and starting quests but never getting around to finishing them because I’d be in an entirely different part of the map, exploring.
Also enjoy some horror games, played resident evil 2make, 4 and 6 and love them all. But I also scare easily and ended up pausing 2make every 5 minutes.
And of course I’m a Nintendo cuck, I love Mario and have all the switch essential first parties (smash ultimate, mario odyssey, botw, etc) so platformers are also a passion.
And here are some other games I’ve enjoyed,
Watch dogs franchise
Assassins creed black flag and odyssey
GTA trilogy and 5
Just cause 4
Spider man ps4
Super hot
Anyways thanks if you do respond!

2021.11.28 23:28 tacobe11 I don’t know what to do.

I fell in love with a very good friend of mine a couple of years ago, but unfortunately she was in a relationship at the time so I obviously didn’t do anything about it, but we really had a special bond her and I, and it made me sick that nothing could happen. Eventually my feelings for her sort of faded away. About three years later I started going out with her roommate and best friend, but it didn’t last for very long, we simply weren’t a match. Thing is, to this day we still are very close friends, and recently that girl and her boyfriend split up, and those feelings I had for her years ago, that I thought had faded away, all came back again. But this time, even though she is single, since my ex is her best friend and roommate, I can’t imagine trying anything with her now because I feel like things could become super awkward between them and I woulnd’t want to jeopardize their friendship. But it really breaks my heart. I feel there is a bond between us two, some « soulmate » kind of deal, but it always seems life has its ways to keep me from trying anything with her. I tried meeting other girls on dating apps and stuff, hoping It’ll make me forget my feelings for her again, but it dosen’t work. She stuck in my head. I’m living a real life How I Met Your Mother scenario. What should I do ?

2021.11.28 23:28 asadotzler Subscribers by Country

The beta tester stats page on this forum has location data for about 2,440 Starlink customers. Assuming Starlink is at about 150,000 customers today, then the beta testers tracked here represent about 1.63% of Starlink's user base. That's a pretty hefty sample size. Unfortunately, Reddit's readership is pretty skewed so I don't think we can calculate the number of subscribers per country using just this data.
Using 150K as the total number of subscribers, the beta tester stats data from this forum, some Reddit by country traffic data from SimilarWeb, and population tables from Wikipedia, I tried to come up with actual Starlink subscribers by country. I may have messed this up terribly, but here's what I think it looks like:

Country Customers
United States 87,234
Canada 19,106
France 10,809
Germany 6,080
Chile 5,843
Italy 5,356
United Kingdom 3,710
Australia 3,165
Mexico 2,340
New Zealand 1,924
Austria 1,200
Netherlands 940
Ireland 926
Poland 469
Belgium 366
Portugal 361
Denmark 109
Sweden 62
Maybe you have tried a similar exercise and come up with different numbers? Let me know what you think.

2021.11.28 23:28 Boogirl2510 PH + New Tank Help

Hey everyone,
My tank (I’ve had for 5+ years) recently had a cycle crash. Everything has stabilised (ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 20) but my PH (which was at 6 during the crash) is now at 7.5, is this too high? If so should I see if it declines naturally or do something to decrease it?
Second thing: I need to get myself a new cabinet and hood. I am wanting to build it myself but not too sure how to attach the lighting or the kind of lighting. I am wanting to make it a live plant tank. Any suggestions?

2021.11.28 23:28 The_SwimBack Why I think GMG's next-gen aluminum ion battery will displace lithium batteries and beat Quantumscape to the battery EV market.

(Queue the normal disclosure. I am a financial advisor. This is not financial advice. I am also not a scientist; nor am I an omniscient witch. So I am not in possession of some magic crystal ball to see the future. This is simply a collection of my own thoughts, research, and understanding of the topic. Do your own research. I also own a fist full of GMG shares that I plan to take to the grave, so I have a vested interest.)
Tl;DR

Okay, let's begin.
I will start off by saying that I am obsessed with this company. To the point where I've become more than mildly annoying within my friend group. No matter the topic of conversation, I'll find a way to pivot back to GMG.
If this is what it feels like to wholeheartedly believe in religion... then...I get it. Expect, rather than trying to save my friend's souls and secure their place in the afterlife, I am trying to secure their financial freedom.
I've watched, read, re-read, re-watched, just about the interview, article, tweet out there. If it was cast out into the internet ethos, I likely found it. The more I research the company, and space, the more I am convinced.
There is a real opportunity here to displace lithium-ion batteries. If you get nothing else from this post, you need to understand how massive of an opportunity this is.
The Battery Market is Massive and GMG Provides a Much Needed Non-lithium-Based Alternative Batteries are effectively the operating system that powers virtually all of our personal devices, work equipment, and more increasingly, our transportation and grid storage. As we transition away from fossil fuels, there is an increasing effort to "Batterify" nearly everything. Not to mention all of the new sensors/devices that will be created as part of the Internet of things (IOT) movement.
As more and more devices come online, all are going to be competing for the same raw materials — Lithium, graphite, cobalt, and manganese . The future energy storage requirements are going to be absolutely massive, and therefore require a solution that is massively scalable.
In a world where lithium-ion battery supply shortages already occurring, non-lithium-based batteries become increasingly attractive.
It allows manufacturers to keep shipping products during global supply shortages and meet future demand. Which is only expected to rise.
demand is estimated to increase by factors of 18–20 for lithium, 17–19 for cobalt, 28–31 for nickel, and 15–20 for most other materials from 2020 to 2050 requiring a drastic expansion of lithium, cobalt, and nickel supply chains and likely additional resource discovery (Xu, C., Dai, Q., Gaines, L. et al. Future material demand for automotive lithium-based batteries. Commun Mater 1, 99 (2020))
This won't be a winner take all market. As an investor, the question you should be asking yourself is "can GMG can fit into this market?"
In my opinion, you better f**king believe it. From everything I can see, not only does GMG fit into the market, but they are also LEADING the space for next-generation battery technology.
GMG holds the exclusive licence to the graphene aluminum ion battery technology, developed at the University of Queensland.
Their battery has some pretty incredible properties mainly:
With their battery, you would be able to fully charge your phone in 1-5 minutes. Let that sink in.
I also have this crazy thesis, that as the world moves off of fossil fuels. Replacing a non-renewable resource with another non-sustainable process is not the answer. It can't be.
LI batteries are difficult and expensive to recycle, and their production is linked to child labour and multiple human rights violations. Additionally, China dominates the raw battery materials chain. Raising national security and energy sovereignty concerns.
GMG's batteries on the other hand only require graphene and aluminum. Aluminum is the most abundant metallic element in the earth's crust (8.23% by mass) and the third most abundant of all elements (after oxygen and silicon). We also already have the infrastructure in place to recycle aluminum effectively.
GMG(Graphene Manufacturing Group), has developed its own process to create graphene from natural gas. No mining is required, resulting in an uncomplicated supply chain.
All that is required is natural gas hookups and electricity. They use solar panels for electricity, and their tail gas is hydrogen. The hydrogen can then be used to further power the production of more graphene. It is about as green of a process as you can get.
Their CEO Craigs expects that once their energy savings solutions are taken into account, they will one day be able to prove they are a carbon negative business.
The intersection here between real-world business value, national security, and Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) is unbelievable. In my opinion, it's every investor's wet dream. Right tech, right space, right time.
I am commited, and I am prepared to either die on this hill or drive and park my Lambo all the way at the top of it.
How this company has only ~$400M CAD market cap is absolutely mind-boggling to me. To drive the point home on how mind numbly ridiculous this is, let's look at comparable next-gen battery companies.
Comparables with Quantumscape The most obvious company to compare them to is Quantumscape (QS). At its, peak QS had a market cap of the minimum market cap of $8B USD and a max market cap of $47.7B USD.

source: https://ycharts.com/companies/QS/market_cap

If GMG was to hit QS minimum market cap the share price would be ~$130 CAD per share (ignoring dilution). If it hit QS max market cap, GMGs share price would trade around ~$790 CAD. GMG currently tardes ~$5.30 CAD.
I will pause here for dramatic effect.
Okay, it is nice to dream, but how much further along is QS than GMG?
Well...from everything I can tell.... the answer is not that damn far.
Granted, QS has a joint venture with Volkswagen, and some other big names behind it.
But when looking purely at the battery tech, and roadmap, I'd say GMG comes out ahead!
Quantmscapes Timeline vs. GMG's This is Quantmscapes key milestones taken from their 2021 September investor presentation.

https://preview.redd.it/jg9w0ifj1g281.png?width=2788&format=png&auto=webp&s=17d5f5d808bc86bdbd4717bee7e488ce53513147
In 2022 they are set for customer prototype sampling, with commercialization midway through 2024.
This is GMG's timeline:

https://preview.redd.it/xz71ba4m1g281.png?width=2862&format=png&auto=webp&s=b9b020b146ac6412ffa32d8f200f4af77c49bfd6
GMG is set to have coin cell commercial prototypes this year, and pouch back commercial prototypes for 2022.
GMG's timeline is ahead of QS for delivery of the first commercial prototype and equal to them for delivery of pouch commercial prototype.
But what about the timeline to revenue/commercialization?
Commerialzation Timeline Per their investor presentation, QS is slated for midway through 2024.
In a recent interview with GMG's CEO Craig Nicole, while referring to the coin cell battery, he said:
we're definitely hoping to put batteries out into the market at a commercial scale hopefully sometime next year. There is a-lot of things that need to come through. (Source)
In the same interview he went on to say:
Now we've got our pilot plan happening so we'll do even more work there and that just gets us to understand and perfect this particular type of new battery. It's a completely new battery just out of carbon and aluminum and then we'll hand all that over and then BOSH will come back and deliver us a new factory. which will then hopefully be able to operate next year and sell into the market” (Source)
GMG has yet to commit to a formal timeline for commercial prototypes, and the actual timeline is likely to be longer than Craig's informal estimates. But even considering Craig is off by a full year and a half, that would still put them ahead or around QS commercial timeline.
So I will ask again, how is GMGs market cap only at $400M when QS is $14B, with virtually the same timeline?
Perhaps QS has a better battery?
GMG's Battery Specs vs. Quantmscapes Here is a side-by-side comparison of what I could find on different battery metrics.
GMG - Graphene Aluminum Ion Battery Quantumscape - Solid-State Lithium Battery Traditional Lithium-Ion Battery
Energy Density How long the battery will last on a single charge. Think of it as how many miles you can drive per charge. 150-160 Wh/kg 350–400 Wh/kg 100-265 Wh/kg
Power Density How fast you can charge and discharge. This is REALLY important for some applications. It is how fast you are able to accelerate a car. 7000 W/Kg Not reported. Presumed to be similar to LI 250 – ~340 W/kg
Number of Cycles This is the battery's overall lifetime. It is how many times the battery can be recharged before it needs to be replaced. 3000 cycles at 10C - 66C 800 cycles at 1C 300 to 500 ( ~ 2 - 3 years)
Fast Charge Data The max charge rate tested. Reported in Columbs (C). Higher the number the faster the recharge. Keep in mind that fast charging can sometimes decrease the overall lifetime of the battery Tested 1000 cycles at 66C. Cacluated time to fully charge average phone battery: 1-5 minutes. Tested charge rate at 4C, reaching 0-80% Charge in 15 minutes
Fire Risks None expected None expected? Or reduced? Yes
Raw Materials Graphene, aluminum Same as LI lithium, nickel, cobalt, manganese
Supply Chain GMG has a self-developed process to make graphene from natural gas. No mining is required. same as LI - mining linked to multiple human rights violations. - China dominates supply to chain to raw battery materials.
Recyclable Nearly 100% recyclable Same as LI Difficult/expensive to recycle
Which Battery is Best? From what I can tell, "it depends". The only metric I can find where QS and LI batteries are superior is energy density. Energy density roughly equates to how much you get out of a single charge. In the case of EVs, it is how many miles you can drive, for your phone it's hours of use in a day.
However, there is more to the story. GMG is reportedly not going to need any of the cooling systems that are found in LI battery packs. When you remove the cooling density, GMG's battery is already comparable with current LI batteries in terms of energy density (Source).
Keep in mind, Lithium-Ion batteries have had 30+ years to mature, whereas GMG's batteries are still GEN 1. Aluminum has one of the highest theoretical energy densities, at 1060 Wh/kg, which is 2.6x greater than Lithium ions theoretical max 406 Wh/kg limit. Over time, it is not hard to imagine that this gap will close.
With respect to all other metrics, GMG wins by a mile. From what I can tell it is not even close. Hoping someone can tell me where I am going wrong?
GMG's batteries charge faster, have no fire risks, have a longer lifetime, and are more environmentally friendly. Here is GMGs performance data, and QS third-party testing report side by side:

QS third party testing data

GMG's performance data

What you should take away from those two slides is that QS battery can be recharged 800 times, whereas GMG's battery can be recharged 3000 times.
The other key point to notice is the speed the battery was being charged at. QS battery was charged at 1 C (Coulomb) for 800 cycles. Where GMGs battery was tested for 1000 cycles at 10C, then again for 1000 cycles at 30C, then again for 1000 cycles at 66C.
Effectively, GMG's battery is charged 66x faster AND lasts over 3 times longer. If I was a QS investor, these metrics would terrify me.
Which Battery is Better for Personal Electronics? To me, GMG is the clear winner. To be fair, if you ask me which battery is the battery for EVs, I'd still argue for the average commuter, GMG wins again for charge rate, lifetime and sustainability.
Focusing on personal electronics, because it currently represents one of the largest MC for batteries, and I believe this is the market GMG will penetrate first.
To the average consumer, having a battery in their phone which lasts 1 day or 1.5 days on a single charge makes likely makes little difference in their day-to-day life.
So long as the battery has enough juice to allow them to make it through their day, that is probably all they need.
The biggest pain point I have with my phone is that after 1-2 years of use, the battery degrades, to the point where I can't make it through my day and it's virtually unusable.
If GMG delivers. Their battery should allow you to fully charge your phone in 1-5 minutes, last through your working day, and retain its performance 3x longer (~6 years). For power tools, laptops, phones, VR headsets, those properties are very attractive and hard to compete with.
GMG's Power Density is a game-changer and will Enable New Technology Because of their fast charge rate and high power density, these batteries enable new technology that was not possible with LI batteries. This is especially true for IOT devices, with
Craig in one interview saying:
We have some of our potential customers who want a sensor on every tree for a farmer. There is another company that wants to put our battery in a sensor for all the animals" (Source)
GMG's power density is also very important for some applications like airplanes, sports cars, industrial equipment, power tools etc.
Power density is a measure of how quickly you can discharge the battery. It translates to how fast a car can accelerate.
While LI batteries might last slightly longer per charge, they are effectively useless to the airline industry because if they can't generate enough acceleration for take-off.
To drive the point home on energy density and power density, imagine two water guns. The amount of water each gun stores; That's is energy density. How quickly you can force that water out and blast your little brother right in the face with it. That is power. Real power.
In that analogy, GMGs batteries would be super-soakers, and LI batteries would be a toy water pistol with a bit more room for extra water.
Can they Scale? This post is already long so I will keep this part short. They have a non-binding LOI with BOSH — a company with a $500B USD MC — will be their short and long-term manufacturing partner.
So I suspect yes.
But to be honest, as an investor right now, I don't care.
QS is valued at billions without having ever sold a single product. The question of "can we scale?", will come when GMG's market cap is already in the billions, and by that time I will be retired.
Upcoming Catalysts
Finial Thoughts
I could go on forever about this company. I have yet to even touch on their other products/divisions which could each make them a billion-dollar company in their own right (Thermal-XR, Lubricants).
I have no idea what GMG's real valuation should be right now, but when I look at QS it is hard for me to see a difference in technology or timeline that warrants $14B dollars.
I suspect it is only a matter of time before a big fish realizes the potential of these batteries and signs up for first priority. Similar to what Volkswagen did with QS.
This entire post is pure speculation, but as an investor, I am incredibly optimistic.
